Play one unused rank from 1–9 each round. The higher card takes the pot; a tie carries it forward. A final-round tie leaves that pot unallocated, so both scores plus unallocated points total 45. Win the nine-round duel with more awarded points to unlock the next opponent; a draw does not unlock it.
